NEW Students OUTSIDE the Merrill School District (Non-Resident)

  • Monday, February 1, 2021 - Friday, April 30, 2021:  Wisconsin Regular Open-Enrollment application available on the DPI website

After the Regular Open Enrollment period closes at the state level (April 30th):

  • Open enrollment applicants are notified in Summer 2021 by the Merrill school district Pupil Services Office (NOT the BVA Office) if the applicant’s open enrollment application has been approved

  • If approved, parents/guardians of approved open enrollment applicants must FIRST respond to the Merrill school district Pupil Services Office (NOT the BVA Office) to accept the open enrollment seat being offered for their student(s)

  • After the applicant’s open enrollment has been confirmed with the Merrill school district Pupil Services Office, parents/guardians of approved applicants will then be contacted via email by BVA with specific BVA enrollment information for the 2021-22 school year

  • Summer 2021:  Wisconsin Alternative Open-Enrollment application available on the DPI website

IMPORTANT NOTE: By Wisconsin State Statute, parents are only allowed to apply one time in a specific school district for enrollment through the open-enrollment process; therefore, if you apply during the regular open-enrollment period and are denied due to space, you are not allowed to use the alternative open-enrollment process to re-apply, even if there is space available during any given school year. If you have questions about this process, please contact the Department of Public Instruction.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact the BVA office.
