February 2-April 30: Families submit Open Enrollment application(s) to DPI.

Early June: Non-Resident Families who submitted an Open Enrollment application will receive a letter in the mail from the Merrill Area Public Schools district (MAPS) indicating if their student has been accepted, denied, OR placed on the waitlist for Bridges Virtual Academy (BVA).

Resident (MAPS) Families who submitted an Enrollment application will receive an email from the MAPS district indicating if their student has been accepted, denied, OR placed on the waitlist for BVA.

Families must notify MAPS no later than Friday, June 26, 2026 whether or not they are accepting enrollment with MAPS/BVA for the 2026-27 school year. If the notification is not provided by the required date, the pupil may not be able to attend BVA.

Early July: All district-approved students who enroll with BVA will receive registration information via email beginning in early July and throughout the summer. New students and their families will be connected with a BVA advisory teacher after all BVA registration steps are completed.

Mid-July/Mid-August: New students and families meet with their BVA advisory teacher to develop the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and order curriculum materials.

What if I missed Open Enrollment? Families who would like to apply to BVA after the Regular Open Enrollment period has ended will be able to apply during the Alternative Open Enrollment period beginning July 1st. The application and additional details will be available on the DPI website.
